The FOX network has announced some shifts of its slate for the 2021-2022 broadcast season as two pilots have both been scrapped and won’t go to series.

“Blood Relative” was to star Melissa Leo as a genealogy expert, while the other was an untitled drama dealt with a woman who finds inspiration in three students trying to do a wildly ambitious shot-for-shot remake of Richard Donner’s “The Goonies”.

The scrapping comes as FOX has ordered more series including a Dan Harmon-created animated comedy set in ancient Greece, the Lee Daniels-produced drama “Our Kind of People,” the dance drama “The Big Leap,” and the mockumentary series “This Country”.

There’s also “Monarch,” a new drama from Melissa London Hilfers which is described as a “Texas-sized, a multigenerational musical drama about America’s first family of country music.” The twelve-episode series will be showrun by Michael Rauch.

Finally, there’s “The Cleaning Lady” which has been ordered and will star Elodie Yung as Thony, a whip-smart doctor who comes to the U.S. for medical treatment to save her ailing son.

When the system fails her, she becomes a cleaning lady for the mob and starts playing the game by her own rules. Adan Canto and Martha Millan co-star while Melissa Carter serves as showrunner.

4A Games and Deep Silver have announced a massive update of their post-apocalyptic first-person shooter “Metro Exodus”.

The free and extensive upgrade takes advantage of ray tracing advancements – ripping out all the game’s existing ‘baked’ lighting and replacing it with full ray-traced lighting to add a level of authenticity to the game.

All versions will get ray-traced global illumination and emissive lighting with the PC version also including advanced ray-traced reflections and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 support. The update also adds 4K texture packs and a field of view slider to all versions.

The upgrade now makes this the first major video game title to be fully lit by ray-tracing techniques – as a result, it will only work on PCs with RTX cards, PS5 and Xbox Series X & S.

Dubbed the definitive version of the game, the title runs at a ‘rock solid’ 4K/60fps on both PS5 & Xbox Series X (and at 1080p/60fps on Xbox Series S). All the next-gen consoles will also have reduced loading times, while the PS5 version has 3D spatial sound and DualSense controller enhancements.

The standalone enhanced edition for PC is now available for free to existing ‘Exodus’ owners with the PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades coming on June 18th. For those who don’t have the game, “Metro Exodus: Definitive Edition” is available and includes both versions of the game along with the DLC.
